Carrera add further options with 1:43 for their Go! Sets - this are an alternative to Scalextric Micro Sets and in our opinion are better value. The cars are larger, more detailed and the track layout typically more interesting. Carrera's standard scale is 1:32, so the same size as Scalextric. Carrera also offer an extra large 1:24 Scale
My simple loop was made from old ‘classic’ Scalextric track, but modern Scalextric Sport can be used in the same way. The pieces needed are eight C8206 standard Radius 2 curves and two C8207 half straights. The loop uses the inner lanes of two standard Radius 2 curves cut to form the ‘Y’ – see the first two pictures above.
Rust and corrosion are not good conductors of electricity, bad enough for DC Analogue locos, but a really big issue for Digital DCC locos where the quality of the electrical signal on the track is imperative. . Even if you get rid of the rust, the steel will be pitted. Pitting attracts more dirt and grime which also acts as an electrical insulator.
WD-40 will clean track fine. The petroleum distillates ensure that. The draw back is the leftover deposit left when the stuff evaporates. Alky works just fine.
